Anybody can sell, even a day’s old baby. Stop selling yourself short

When babies cry, they aren’t really crying, they are saying something, more like selling something. It’s their marketing language. What’s yours?

I recently attended an #onlinesession about starting online courses and I thought to share a few things:

  1. Anybody can sell: more than anything, the online world has proven this. You got to shun analysis-paralysis and just move forward. Start that conversation you’ve been procrastinating for decades.

2. If you’re keen about #worklifebalance; build a solid support system (get caregivers or nannies for your wards if you have to). Be ready to pay to free up time. In the end, it’s worth it. (You may also consider adding chefs to the list.)

3. Excellence is key; your approach to your online course is very important for success to be achieved. From the way you compile your content, to your delivery, and even the #customersjourney, let them all speak excellence.

4. Not a day’s journey; do not pay to learn a skill within 3 months just so you can start selling immediately. Even experts have to dedicate a lot of time and resources in gaining #mastery. Don’t attempt to sell a skill or knowledge you aren’t grounded in. Not all damaged reputation or initial put-offs can be reversed. Be committed to building your reputation over time.

5. Be ready to pay for tech; why should you worry about building a very comprehensive online platform for yourself when you can simply leverage already existing tools like #Teachable? You shouldn’t waste resources to build from scratch.

6. Content remains KING, but CONSISTENCY builds the PALACE; I am sure this part needs no special emphasis. You got to remain consistent in what you do; such that when the time comes, everything about you just sticks in the mind of your audience. At that moment, introducing yourself will almost sound like preaching to the choir.

7. Finally, identify and connect with your audience: rather than sell “Key Strategies to Marketing In 2020” why not sell “Do These and Never Get a No from Your Clients Again” Note: Do not over-promise and then under-deliver. In the bid to create relatable headlines, content or copies, you have to ensure your online course delivers exactly what it says it will.
